On their way from New York to Hollywood for a drag contest, the 'Queens' Noxeema (Wesley Snipes), Vida (Patrick Swayze) and Chi Chi (John Leguizamo) are forced to make a stopover when their Cadillac convertible suddenly breaks down in the conservative town of Syndersville. But rather than giving up, the trio turn the villagers' lives completely upside down. With plenty of glitter and humour, they break down patriarchal structures and offer a heart-warming reminder of just how important friendships and chosen families are in life. This charming 1995 road movie is a milestone in Hollywood cinema, as it is the first major production to place drag culture and queer themes at its heart.
