There are those people who are naturally destined to change things, to question things, to push things forward. Dirty (Velten) Doering is such a person. He has a certain. A natural visionary with an uncanny knack for knowing what makes people tick, he's not just a DJ; he's an icon, an entrepreneur, and a cornerstone of Berlin's legendary electronic music scene. Born in Leipzig and raised in Baden-Baden, Velten spun his first records at just 15 years old. By 21, he had moved to Berlin, where his journey as Dirty Doering truly began. Starting out at Sternradio and hosting after-hours that became the stuff of legend, his reputation grew rapidly, eventually crossing national borders with the release of his hit track I Would in 2010. But it was his role at the iconic Bar 25 that solidified his place as the beating heart of Berlin's underground scene. From tracks like Casino Aquatique to Cape of Good Hope and Emma Wong, Dirty Doering
carried the pulse of the Spree river to the farthest reaches of the techno world.
In 2011, alongside Sascha Cawa, he launched Katermukke, a label that quickly became a global sensation. Festivals, clubs, and showcases across every continent followed. Everyone wanted a piece of Katermukke, and everyone wanted Dirty Doering. Katermukke is more than just another imprint; it is a sonic journey, an ever-evolving story that unfolds with every release, and a testament to the restless spirit of musical innovation.
Within its embrace, Katermukke amalgamates a broad gamut of electronic genres, from the narcotic allure of melodic house to the pounding heartbeats of techno, from the ethereal landscapes of electronica to the infectious rhythms of indie dance, and

Since 2012, he's made it a tradition to escape Berlin's icy winters for a few months in sunny Cape Town. But true to form, he doesn't just vacation. He plugs himself into the local scene, playing at the hottest festivals and raves while effortlessly bringing together also south african artists and creators for collaborative projects that amplify their talent.
Dirty Doering is a character artist by the book. His sound is as succinct as the loud laughter and as surprising as the knee-high white energy socks that he likes to wear behind the booth. He is undoubtedly a sommelier of electronic music and, depending on the setting and set, sounds so deep, so driving, so groovy, and like 80s synths - but always extremely enchanting and when Dirty plays, it seems as if the dancers leave space and time and are Lost in music.
His music catalog is as bold and varied as his DJ sets. From deep, immersive grooves to tracks that are weirdly enchanting or razor-sharp, Dirty and Katermukke refuse to be pigeonholed. In 2018, his album Euch die Uhren, uns die Zeit captured that ethos perfectly, pulling listeners into its gravitational pull. Now, his latest project, Last Exit Space, released in March 2023 with longtime collaborator Niconé, promises to take the journey even further into the cosmos.
Now, 2025 promises to be a landmark year for Dirty Doering. Together with Niconé, he's set to release their first single with XTZ - an exciting teaser for their upcoming album, slated for early 2025.
