Reception starting at 10:30 a.m. Event from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
With coffee, tea and vegan/vegetarian snacks, we'll be making ourselves comfortable and warmly inviting all queer filmmakers to come along for some networking and discussion! Please join us, bring your questions and stories with you, and let's talk about how queer film culture can remain defiant, visible and unifying, both today and tomorrow. To kick off the event, director and queer icon Monika Treut will deliver a keynote speech. As a pioneer of international and German queer-feminist cinema, Monika will share insights from her latest film, COOKING UP DEMOCRACY. The film traces Taiwan's recent history of resistance and shows how democracy there is defended primarily by queer-feminist and civil society activists. Other international festival guests will share their experiences before we move on to an open networking get-together. Festival guests at the Community Talk: - Menelas Siafakas (curator, PORNFILMFESTIVAL ATHENS) - Kristina Mikhailova (director, RIVER DREAMS) - Spyros Patsouras (producer, UCHRONIA) Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to stay on site and continue the discussions. The event will be held in English; German-language contributions can be translated. However, there will be no simultaneous interpretation.
