Vortrag in englischer Sprache von Prof. Kuangyu Shi (Chief Medical Physicist and Head of the Lab for Artificial Intelligence and Translational Theranostics at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland) zum Thema: "AI meets nuclear medicine: Advancements through Sino-European Partnership".
Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming healthcare by significantly enhancing clinical workflows, decision-making processes, and treatment optimization. As the development and deployment of AI become increasingly dependent on substantial data and resources, collaboration between Europe and China is essential for driving innovation and ensuring the safe, effective, and ethical application of AI in medicine. This talk will specifically highlight AI applications in nuclear medicine imaging and therapy - a highly interdisciplinary field integrating medicine, physics, and chemistry. Europe currently leads in the advancement of nuclear medicine, whereas China excels in rapid developments related to instrumentation and clinical applications. Both regions have considerable experience integrating AI into nuclear medicine. Through selected examples, this talk will demonstrate successful collaborations between Europe and China, showcasing how interdisciplinary cooperation has accelerated clinical translation, improved patient outcomes, and addressed significant challenges such as data sharing, validation, and clinical testing.
