Understanding the gendered implications of insecurity in the Sahel
Abstract:
Insecurity in the Sahel is driven by climate change, violent extremism, and mass displacement and affects men, boys, women, and girls in distinct yet interconnected ways. What does this mean for tactical and humanitarian interventions? While some implications are open to debate, better tailored, gender neutral legal and policy responses are needed. This Freiburg Africa Talk will detail expectations from the continent (Text: A. Yakohene).

Afua Boatemaa Yakohene is a Senior Research Fellow at the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy, University of Ghana, Legon. She is also a Co-Convenor of the 13th Interdisciplinary Fellow Group of the Merian Institute for Advanced Studies in Africa (MIASA), University of Ghana, Legon.
