The History of Political Thought as Window on the World
Vortrag in englischer Sprache
Everyone understands politics through their own life. My own life has shaped my vision of politics accordingly, but for over sixty years it has reshaped it extensively through thinking about the history of human political thinking. The portion of that history I have studied has been principally the political thinking of the west, more or less from the days of Socrates to the second Trump Presidency. In this lecture, I will trace how living through politics and studying its history have intersected in my own life, and why discoveries in the history of political thought continue to matter for how we live and understand our present.
