Fast ein Familientreffen: hr-Chefdirigent Alain Altinoglu hat, in Paris geboren, armenische Wurzeln. Und der aus Eriwan stammende Sergey Khachatryan wuchs in Frankfurt auf, als eines der größten Violin-Talente der letzten Jahrzehnte. Ein Muss, dass dabei auch Armeniens bekanntester Komponist ins Spiel kommt und ein Plus, dass unter dem Titel »Armenian Soul« daraus sogar ein kleiner Programmschwerpunkt des hr-Sinfonieorchesters erwächst. Aram Khatchaturians 1940 entstandenes Violinkonzert hat alles, was sich ein Geiger nur wünschen kann: Feuer, Brillanz, die große Kantilene ebenso wie den leichten, aber immer spürbaren folkloristischen Einschlag. Und es verlangt einen echten Virtuosen wie Sergey Khachatryan, der sagt: Wenn er nicht Geige spielen würde, wäre er Rennfahrer geworden. Den Adrenalin-Kick sucht er immer, auf dem Podium wie auch im Leben, und es spielt jedes Konzert mit einer künstlerischen Verausgabung, als wäre es ein letztes. Verausgabung: Das ist auch das Stichwort für eines der berühmtesten Orchesterwerke des 20. Jahrhunderts, Igor Strawinskys »Le sacre du printemps«. Es ist eine Ballettmusik, aber keine der luftigen Art - im Gegenteil, es ist eine Anbetung der Erde, rhythmisch stampfend, von horrender Klangkraft. Die Uraufführung 1913 wurde von Fassungslosigkeit und Tumult dominiert - den Atem raubt das Werk noch heute.

And Yerevan-born Sergey Khachatryan grew up in Frankfurt as one of the greatest violin talents of recent decades. It is a must that Armenia´s best-known composer is also comes into play here and a plus that this even results in a small program focus for the Frankfurt Radio Symphony under the title »Armenian Soul«.
